Start with the bowl you use
That makes OXO the more convincing fit for someone who often weighs flour into a wide bowl. Escali is a straightforward choice when the bowl leaves the front controls visible. Check the geometry of your own bowl so the rim leaves the display and controls visible.
Capacity and resolution describe different things
Both scales list an 11-pound capacity. Both provide readings in whole grams. Capacity tells you the total load the scale can carry. Resolution tells you the steps shown on the display. Neither number, on its own, establishes accuracy throughout the range.
Taring a bowl makes the displayed weight return to zero, but it does not make the bowl disappear from the physical load. A heavy ceramic vessel leaves less capacity for ingredients. For tiny amounts of yeast or another ingredient measured in fractions of a gram, look for an appropriate finer-resolution scale .
Cleaning and waiting matter
OXO has a removable stainless steel platform. Escali has a sealed display and control panel intended to protect against accidental spills. Wipe the body carefully and follow each manual; a removable surface does not make the electronics washable in a sink.
Escali specifies shutoff after four minutes of inactivity. Consider how you actually mix: if you pause to find a jar or chop an ingredient, an automatic shutoff can interrupt a running total. Write down critical totals before stepping away, whichever scale you choose.
Our fit-based recommendation
Choose OXO when a movable readout solves an existing annoyance. Choose Escali when you want a two-button routine and can keep its fixed display in sight. Neither needs a special bowl, and both let you tare between additions.

A 1-gram display step is not a guarantee of 1-gram accuracy at every weight.
