Buy for the way you start the morning
The Fellow is the clearer fit if having water heat at a scheduled time is a feature you expect to use. The OXO suits someone who walks to the counter, selects a temperature and starts the kettle. A longer menu is useful only when its options reduce friction in an actual brewing routine.
Separate the target number from the finished cup
Both manufacturers publish a range from 104 to 212 F. That is the kettle's selection range, not a promise that water reaches the coffee at exactly the displayed value. The distance poured, the brewer and its starting temperature affect the path between kettle and grounds.
Begin with the directions for your coffee and brewer, then change one variable at a time. If you alter grind, water temperature and pouring pattern together, a different cup will be hard to explain. A kettle display gives you a repeatable setting to record; it does not determine which setting tastes best for every coffee.
Use the timer where it helps
Both include a way to time brewing. OXO's manual says its count-up timer is available after the kettle reaches the desired temperature. Fellow includes a brew stopwatch as well as a scheduling menu. Decide whether having the timer on the kettle base is convenient when a brewer and scale also occupy the counter.
Fellow's Wi-Fi connection supports firmware updates. The manufacturer explicitly says the updater app does not remotely control the kettle or its settings. Do not buy it expecting phone-based remote operation. If scheduling matters, understand that function on the kettle itself and how it fits your normal morning setup.
Leave room for the whole brewing station
Fellow's selected kettle holds 0.9 liters. Allow water for rinsing a filter or warming a brewer as well as the drink itself, while following fill marks and the instructions for the specific kettle. A gooseneck spout also takes horizontal space, so measure the area beside a grinder rather than just the heating base.
Choose Fellow for its scheduling and selectable hold periods, or OXO for its documented dial workflow and fixed hold period. Neither specification establishes a winner for pouring balance, heating speed or noise. Include ordinary descaling and drying in the ownership plan; a precise setting is less useful if maintenance makes the kettle inconvenient to use.
