The 10.25-inch Lodge and 12-inch Victoria suit different dinners. Their extra handle matters almost as much as the cooking surface.

Smaller skillet dinners

Lodge 10.25-inch Cast Iron Skillet. A smaller nominal diameter requires less stove and storage space.

Dinners needing more room

Victoria 12-inch Cast Iron Skillet. The larger nominal diameter offers more room, with a larger footprint.

These are two different sizes

A pan that holds dinner comfortably is more useful than one that wins an argument about brands. The Lodge linked here is 10.25 inches across; the Victoria is 12 inches. That difference changes how much room there is for chicken pieces or a mound of vegetables. It also changes the space the pan needs on the stove and in a cupboard.

Choose the Lodge for smaller skillet meals when the extra width would mostly sit empty. Choose the 12-inch Victoria skillet if your current pan makes you brown dinner in several batches. These are size-based recommendations.

Look at both handles

Both pans have a long handle and a smaller helper handle. Victoria gives its long handle a noticeable curve. An extra grip is useful when moving a filled cast-iron pan, but a picture cannot tell us which handle will feel comfortable in your hands. If lifting heavy cookware is difficult, inspect the weight and try the grip before buying.

Check oven clearance as well as burner space. The long handle adds considerably to the pan's total length. Keep a suitable dry mitt ready for either grip when the pan comes out of the oven. A cast handle does not stay cool just because it looks like a handle.

Seasoning is part of owning either pan

Lodge supplies a vegetable-oil seasoning; Victoria specifies flaxseed oil. Neither coating means the pan can sit in a sink of water. The practical maintenance routine is the same: wash it, dry it promptly, then apply a thin coat of oil when needed. Follow the brand's instructions for your particular model.

For a first cast-iron pan, think about that routine honestly. If you prefer to leave washing until the next morning, seasoning care can become a nuisance. Long simmering with acidic ingredients is another reason to keep a different pot available. Cast iron need not do every cooking job.

Our buying judgment

The Lodge is the more compact choice in this pairing. The Victoria gives you more width, with the storage and lifting consequences that follow. Check the selected size on the retailer page; both brands sell several pans with similar names.

Make this purchase around the dinners that already crowd your skillet . Consider the surface area needed for browning, the weight you can lift comfortably, and the care routine you will keep.
