Choose around the part after pressing
Choose OXO if you prefer a cleaner built into the reversing handle action. Choose Zyliss if exposing the grid directly suits your washing routine. Open the press to check how you will reach the grid and remove garlic fibers after use.
Decide whether crushed garlic is the right texture
A press produces a different form from slices or a rough knife mince. Choose it when that fine crushed texture suits the dish you are making. If a recipe depends on visible slices or chunks, owning a press does not make those instructions interchangeable. The right tool follows the preparation the dish actually needs.
Small sticky pieces can remain around the chamber even when most of a clove has passed through. Clear that residue while the tool is still easy to rinse. Do not use a fingertip to force food through a tight opening. Take the opportunity to inspect the chamber before putting the press away for its next use.
Keep the Zyliss generations separate
The selected Zyliss is Susi 4 E960016, with cast aluminum and stainless steel components. It is different from the older Susi 3. The maker's current page includes older review references and general FAQ text, so those should not be taken as measurements or ownership reports about the newer design.
Zyliss says Susi 4 can accept unpeeled cloves. That may be useful if avoiding the peeling step is part of your intended routine, although the remaining skin still needs removal from the chamber.
Read the care conflict before buying
OXO explicitly marks 11107400 dishwasher safe. Zyliss's Susi 4 page contradicts itself: its care panel says dishwasher safe, while the FAQ recommends hand washing for the aluminum construction. We would hand wash while seeking clarification for the exact supplied model. That uncertainty is relevant to anyone choosing a press around dishwasher cleaning.
The OXO is the clearer fit when an explicit dishwasher label and reversing cleaner meet your needs. The Susi 4 is worth considering for its accessible grid if hand washing is acceptable. Whichever you choose, make sure the tool fits the hand using it and the drawer storing it; neither published material list establishes comfort or durability over time.
